Following a 6-month planning process, the reserved matters application for NRM’s Central Hall Masterplan has now been approved by City of York Council.
The new building will connect the museum’s two main galleries at Great Hall and Station Hall. It is the centrepiece of the Museum’s Vision 2025 Programme, which involves the £55.3m transformation of the National Railway Museum in York and Locomotion in Shildon, County Durham.
The practice has worked alongside the award-winning architects Fielden Fowles in leading the design team through the planning process and will now focus on discharging the necessary planning conditions to facilitate the start of construction activity in late 2023.
